The Nissan Versa Note, which goes on sale in the United States this summer, and the crossover Resonance concept made their world debut here at the 2013 North American International Auto Show today.

While the Nissan Versa lineup has been a longtime sales and share leader in the entry segment in the United States, it gets a new look with the 2014 hatchback Versa Note.

Promising 40 miles per gallon, Nissan Connect with Navigation System, a hands-free text messaging assistant and an Around View Monitor parking assist system, its manufacturer’s suggested retail price will be $13,990.

“The Versa Note is best hands down in the compact sector with efficient packaging and fuel economy,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America Inc.

Nissan also introduced its Resonance concept, which Andy Palmer, executive vice president of Nissan Motor Co. Inc., said “redefines the crossover segment.”

The vehicle signals the future direction of Nissan crossovers and offers a aerodynamic exterior, spacious interior and fuel-efficient hybrid-electric powertrain.

“It is geared to U.S. customers, and includes cloud productivity,” Palmer said.

The vehicle has a V-motion grille, a boomerang-shaped hood and a floating glass roof, which create a sense of spaciousness, he added. Inside designers created what they thought the future of first-class space travel might be: welcoming and high tech. The “VIP lounge” has a light, cushy leather interior.

Palmer said Nissan plans to introduce one new product every six weeks until 2016, putting a lot of new models into the pipeline.
