Day 11: Friday, August 16th
Bronte Creek Provincial Park to Owen Sound (197 km)
Flexie is irrevocable, clean and filled-up, given back to Richard and Bob from BHG in Mississauga. We don't like to hand the keys back after a 2,000 km road trip filled up with adventures. Bob is so polite to drive us to the rental car office. Faces are clearing up from the girls when they see there's a gleaming, virgin-white Ford Flex in front of the door. Sadly though, the car isn't ours.
Instead, we're getting an ordinary Mitsubishi Outlander. The differences between both cars are huge, having come from a decent, luxurious and powerful (and huge amount of torque) couch to a basic, plastic-feeling, high-revving car.
“It's a pity we don't have the Flex for the full three weeks. Now we really have to take a real step down for the rest of the trip,” says Esmée. We don't have any time for complaints though. We're in a great country and we want to head north.
It's nice weather and a straight-as-straight-can be-road leads us to Owen Sound. Bernice really wants to stay for a couple of days on the same campground, after moving every single day since we landed on Canadian territory, so we strand in camping Sunny Valley Road. A great family camping, with people who receive 'the Belgian family' with open hearts.
